Extraordinary Year End for Antiquorum Auctioneers; the best result in Antiquorum USA’s History!

December 5, 2007 – Antiquorum’s final auction of 2007 attained the outstanding sum of $ 9,612,051 for its sale of Important Collectors’ Wristwatches, Pocket Watches & Clocks sale. There was a record number of 441 on-line bidders in addition to the telephone, and commission bidders who uncompromisingly competed for the 402 lots in the sale. Of these, 84.58% were sold by lot and 119.34 % sold by value by bidders from countries such as Hong Kong, Switzerland, and The Russian Federation.

“We are very pleased by the outcome of today’s sale which reflects the willingness of collectors to pay premium prices for timepieces that have never been seen at auction before,” said Julien Schaerer, Watch Director and Auctioneer, Antiquorum USA.


The highlight of the sale was lot 402, a Patek Philippe Ref. 2497, First Series sold for $ 624,400. Also, several other Patek Philippes sold very well; lot 398 , a white gold Ref. 5016 attained $540,400. Another excellent price was fetched by lot 366, a set of four Patek Philippe Calatrava wristwatches with cloisonné enamel dials sold for $ 254,800. Also, the Patek Philippe Ref 5350, lot 363, sold for $ 82,600. Moreover, lot 343, the Patek Philippe “Skeleton”, Ref. 3883 achieved $ 33,040. In addition, spirited bidding for lot 391, an extra-large Patek Philippe silver keyless pocket watch lead to the amazing result of $47,200; eight times its estimate. Even watch related items such as a white, pink, and yellow gold Patek Philippe lighter sold for a whopping $ 12,980!

Gerald Genta also did exceptionally well with lot 390, a “Grande Complication” that achieved $ 350,000. In addition, Breguet obtained the remarkable sum of $ 445,200 for lot 386, a Breguet “250th Anniversary” Ref. 3857PT. Furthermore FP Journe fetched $ 82,600 for lot 388, a “ Tourbillon Souverain a Remontoir d’ Egalite avec Seconde Morte”.

Finally Omega and Audemars Piguet brands realized excellent results; lot 154, an Omega “Chronograph” sold for $ 38,940; more than three times its estimate. While lot 293 , an Audemars Piguet White Gold Skeletonized wristwatch sold for $ 23,010; six times its estimate
