ANTIQUORUM PRESENTS FIRST-RATE TIMEPIECES IN NOVEMBER AUCTION


Geneva, October 15, 2007. Following their highly successful autumn sales and confirming Antiquorum’s supremacy on the horological auction market, the upcoming November 11 sale of Important Collectors’ Watches, Pocket Watches & Clocks will present some 307 very select timepieces. The watches included in the catalogue are spanning several centuries of fine watch making. This eclectic auction shall be held at the recently refurbished Grand Hotel Kempinski during one single session on the Sunday afternoon preceding the Geneva fall auction-week.

Among the highlights of the sale is unquestionably the extremely fine and exceptionally rare Patek Philippe pocket chronometer with a one-minute tourbillon. Its movement was made in 1929, and it was cased in 1993. Combining 9 complications it obtained the Geneva Observatory First Class Certificate. A very fine and rare pink gold Ref. 130 made by Patek Philippe has been consigned by the descendant of the original owner and is appearing for the first time at auction. It is estimated between Sfr. 100’000 – 150’000. Also, for the first time presented at auction, there is an extremely fine and rare, oversized Patek Philippe Ref. 1579 in pink gold which is estimated between SFr. 180’000 – 220’000. In addition, some very fine wristwatches such as a Patek Philippe Ref. 3448 in yellow gold, a Ref. 5004 in pink gold, a Lange & Söhne Tourbillon in platinum and an IWC Scafusia il  Destrerio will be on offer.

The watches shall be shown in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Taipei prior to the Geneva Showroom exhibition starting on November 9(see schedule here-below).

  “Ultra Complicated with 16 Complications”
Ref. 942/1. Made in 1992. Highly exceptional and extremely important, unique, 18K gold, keyless grande complication, Grande et Petite Sonnerie clockwatch with trip minute-repeating, split-seconds chronograph, instantaneous 30-minute register, instantaneous perpetual calendar with phases of the moon, lunar calendar and 24-hour indication.

"Watch with 9 Complications, First Class Observatory Rating"
Ref. 969. Movement made in 1929, completed and cased in 1993, sold on September 19, 2001.
Extremely fine and exceptionally rare, one of only two examples, extra large, 18K gold, keyless pocket chronometer with perpetual calendar, 24-hour indication, moon phases, power-reserve indication and one-minute tourbillon regulator by James Pellaton, Guillaume balance, adjusted for observatory trial in 1945 by Hermann Heck and again in 1957 by Andre Zibach obtaining 50.71 points, Geneva Observatory First Class Certificate obtained. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives and the Bulletin d'Observatoire.

Extremely fine, rare and unusual, astronomic, self-winding, water resistant, 18K white gold wristwatch with mean solar time indication, nocturnal sky chart of the Northern Hemisphere, moon phases and moon orbit, time of the meridian passage of Sirius and moon. Made circa 2003.

1st generation. Made in 1951, sold on March 29, 1955, retailed by Serpico y Laino, Caracas Venezuela.
Very fine and extremely rare, early, self-winding, water-resistant, 18K pink gold wristwatch with enamel dial and the original 18K pink gold Patek Philippe gadrooned and tile-link bracelet. Accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.
