Antiquorum sets World Record Price for Patek Philippe Safari Clock


New York, September 26, 2007 —  Antiquorum’s first sale of the fall season achieved $ 4,648,463 for its’ New York  auction of Important Collectors’ Wristwatches & Pocket Watches. Of the 335 pieces offered, 127% were sold by value and 80% sold by lot. The New York TimeZone was filled with bidders in addition the phone, commission, and 380 registered online bidders. Intense bidding came from countries such as Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Japan, France, The Netherlands as well as the United States.

“The results that we’ve seen today prove that despite recent volatile stock and real estate markets, the collectors’ watch market continues to remain strong”, said Julien Schaerer, Watch Director Antiquorum USA.

The star lot of the sale was lot 335, a Jules Audemars-Tourbillon Repetition Minutes Chronographe that sold for $ 299,600.  Lange and Sohne watch brand also did very well; lot 291, a Double Split Flyback, sold for $ 117,400 and lot 292 , a Lange 1 Tourbillon achieved $ 169,150.

A world record price of $ 128,900 was attained for the Patek Philippe Safari Clock. Furthermore, the Patek Philippe World- Time Wall Clock sold for an extraordinary $ 27,140.

Jaeger Le –Coultre was also very much in demand with its’ Master Minute Repeater Antoine LeCoultre which fetched $ 128,900. In addition, Omega did very well as evidenced by the Speedmaster, lot 249, sold for the impressive price of $ 82,600. Furthermore, Rolex also achieved significant results; lot 267, a Gold Cosmograph sold for $ 66,080 and lot 266, a Stainless Steel Cosmograph Daytona sold for $ 30,680.
