Only Watch 2007 – 35 of the World’s
Leading Watch Brands Donate to Charity
Antiquorum,
the world’s premier watch auctioneer together
with the exceptional patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco
is honored to present “Only Watch 2007”; 35 of the world’s
leading watch brands will each donate a unique watch or first in
a series to be sold at the Monaco Yacht Show on September 20, 2007
at 6pm to benefit research for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Previews
will be held in Tokyo, Shanghai,Hong Kong, Singapore, and Geneva.
This will be the second time such an overwhelming number of brands
have decided to participate in this remarkable charity event. The
first Only Watch auction took place in September 2005 which raised € 1,900,000
to help find a cure for the disease.
Duchenne Muscular
Dystrophy – A
serious genetic disease that affects one out of every 3,500 boys
born. It is progressive and is marked by a gradual deterioration
of the muscles, resulting in life-threatening pulmonary and cardiac
complications. Those who suffer from the disease become highly
dependent and require constant assistance and an adaption of their
environment. Research has made great strides during the past ten
years, due to the genetic progress, as well as to the dedicated
efforts of associations the families of affected children. However,
much remains to be done in order for effective therapies to be
found to help these children.
Only Watch attributes
its’ tremendous
success in 2005 which continues to be the
backbone for the 2007 event to the following:
-
A prestigious patronage. We have the great
honor and privilege to host the second Only Watch charity
event with the support of HSH Prince Albert II, who has expressed
his willingness to dedicate some of his time and renew his
commitment to a cause which aims to find a cure for this
terrible disease affecting young boys.
The watches included in the
Only Watch 2007 are each truly magnificent. There is a watch for
everyone; from the serious watch collector seeking a unique watch
from an established brand to the generous buyer of a beautiful
piece offering an opportunity to acquire important watches and
contribute to a noble cause. Utmost care has been given to the
quality of the watches and some have used innovative ideas such
as asking Paul Pettavino, an eleven year-old affected by the disease
to help co-design one of the lots according to his favorite colors
and his own drawing. Other ideas include the reproduction of HSH
Prince Albert II of Monaco’s fingerprint entirely set in diamonds.
Another representing the Monaco Palace painted beautifully on a Meissen
porcelain dial or having the watches co-designed by personalities
such as the famous designer Philippe Starck and another by the brilliant
architect Jean Michel Wilmott; an ingenious and futuristic watch
that the lucky buyer will collect in 2008. Interesting technical
innovations and unusual materials have been employed to attract buyers.
