For Immediate Release Antiquorum Celebrates Rolex's Anniversary Year with the Sale of the Century New York, April 17, 2008 - Antiquorum's sale titled "Revolution: The Evolution of the Rolex Sport Watch", commemorating the 100th anniversary of Rolex, achieved $ 8,515,260. There was excitement in the air as soon as the auctioneer stepped up to the podium at the Rolex thematic sale Thursday morning on April 17. Not only was the auction room packed with a record number of eager bidders, but there were also 283 registered online bidders. Furthermore, because of tremendous interest, an additional sales room was set up in Milan and connected to the New York auction room via video conference. Excellent prices were achieved resulting in 142.05 % sold by value and 90 % sold by lot. Participation came from all over the world including from countries such as Germany, Italy and Malta. Incredible results were reached including 9 world records at the April 17th sale. Also, the Ref. 1655 "Straight Hand Steve McQueen" (lot 103) realized the impressive sum of $40'800. Even novelty items such as "The World Famous Oyster Case" (lot 63) fetched $ 28'800.
