ANTIQUORUM PRESENTS MORE THAN 800 IMPORTANT TIMEPIECES IN ITS FIRST AUCTION OF THE YEAR

Geneva, February 7, 2008. Antiquorum, the world’s leading watch auctioneer, begins 2008 with an excellent sale including more than 800 lots. This first Spring auction entitled Important Collectors’ Watches, Pocket Watches & Clocks will be held at the Grand Hotel Kempinski in Geneva on March 15 & 16.  The beautiful catalogue, in a modernized design,  comprises important timepieces spanning several centuries of fine watch making, including a private collection of Jaeger LeCoultre watches.

This auction will be followed by a thematic sale in New York entitled “Revolution: The Evolution of Rolex Sport Watch”, to be held on April 17th with special European preview in Geneva during the first two days of the SIHH show on April 7&8. Moreover, in May in Geneva, Antiquorum is selling an important single-owner collection of wristwatches collected during the last decades by an European Nobleman.
Among the highlights included in the March auction there is a Minute Repeating, 18K pink gold wristwatch by Vacheron Constantin with three-tone dial that is estimated between Sfr. 200’000 and 300’000. The Patek Philippe Calatrava in Titanium “Piece Unique”, made especially for, and sold at the Geneva charity event “Children Action” in 2007 should create a lot of interest. From the same manufacturer is a Ref. 1463 in yellow gold made in the 1940s, consigned by the original owner and estimated between SFr. 150’000 – 200’000 and a  Ref. 2499, fourth series, made in 1977,  also in yellow gold and estimated between SFr. 300-400’000.
Furthermore, a magnificent, extremely rare and elegant Patek Philippe lady's Platinum and diamond set bracelet with Concealed Watch. This lovely watch, made in the 1940s is set with a total of 33.02 carats of baguette, marquise and brilliant cut diamonds. It is estimated between Sfr. 60’000 and 100’000.
For Rolex enthusiasts there is the extremely fine and rare Rolex Ref. 3525 “Monoblocco” in stainless steel retailed by Versace, Reggio Calabria and estimated  between Sfr. 115’000 and 145’000, as well as an “Oyster Perpetual Date, Submariner, owned by Ayrton Senna and accompanied by original certificate.
With an important provenance is the very rare and important, 18K yellow gold Omega “Centenary - Automatic, Chronomètre” self-winding wristwatch made in 1944 for the King of Denmark Frederik IX.

Coinciding this year with its 175th anniversary, a private Jaeger-LeCoultre collection has been consigned by an European Gentleman including iconic watches such as the early Reverso models made in the 1930s passing through to Memovox watches made in the 1960s in gold and steel up to more recent Reverso masterpieces such as the “Septantième”, the “Tourbillion” and the “Minute Repeater”.

The watches will be on preview in Hong Kong on March 4&5 and in Shanghai on March 7&8 prior to the Geneva Showroom exhibition starting on Thursday, March 13 (see schedule here-below).
