An alternative option to the traditional auction and A-auction, this new sale’s corner of Antiquorum Online –Customer-to-Customer– will allow clients to easily buy and sell watches and horological items directly between each other, in a secure and user-friendly environment. Visitors to this "Ebay-style" marketplace will not only find wristwatches, pocket watches, clocks, scientific instruments, chronometers, horological machinery and tools available for sale, but also watch stands, boxes, winders, horological books, documents and manuscripts, and vintage watch advertisements.
The Wireless Auction Bidding System (WABS).
Bidding at Antiquorum’s traditional auctions and A-auctions is about to become easier with the introduction of a newly developed bidding system, set to launch later this Spring season:

The Wireless Auction Bidding System (WABS). In addition to the bidding options currently available, absentee, telephone, and online bidding, the newly developed WABS will now allow collectors to place bids directly on their cellular phones from anywhere and under any circumstance! In order to participate as a Wireless Auction Bidder you will first need a cellular phone that is J2ME (Java2 Platform, Micro Edition) enabled. Making use of its MIDP 1.0 (Mobile Information Device Profile), the cellular phone is able to connect to Antiquorum’s site by means of the phone’s internet browser, and download the necessary auction software. This process takes just a few seconds. The next step is to complete the registration process for online bidding on www.antiquorum.com via the use of a personal computer, after which the bidder will receive by return e-mail the paddle and pin number required for bidding. On auction day, with the use of the phone’s internet browser, the wireless
auction bidder can connect to Antiquorum’s site and follow the instructions for wireless auction bidding. The wireless auction bidder has the option of viewing the traditional auction or A-auction in progress, or participating interactively in these sales against other clients. Antiquorum’s WABS has been created on the basis of the Sony Ericsonn Model P800. However, many other cellular phones from different manufacturers including Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Siemens will also be compatible with the system. The Wireless Auction Bidding System will launch in conjunction with Antiquorum’s Hong Kong auction this upcoming June 7-8. It will however be possible to follow the auction progression via WABS from March 2003.

Buying or Selling though the Customer-to-Customer site provides a unique opportunity to deal directly with Antiquorum’s clients and important international horological enthousiasts. This client base represents a buying power in excess of US$ 103,000,000 as evidenced during Antiquorum’s 2002 auction season. As A Seller Depending on their needs, sellers will be able to purchase one or multiple web pages within Antiquorum’s website, www.antiquorum.com, where they will list and describe the items they intend to sell. Since the Customer-to-Customer marketplace has been designed with security in mind, sellers must however, first complete an application and be approved by Antiquorum. The seller will then be assigned a private client number, which will allow him to log onto the system and upload the descriptions and images of the items to be offered for sale. Because sellers often have different needs, we have provided a variety of options from which they may choose. Sellers will, for instance, have the option of selecting auctions of 30, 45 or 60 days for each item they list. For those who may prefer a quicker sale, an optional "Buy Now" feature, which allows for the immediate purchase of an item at a price previously determined by the seller, will also be available. Along with a title, description, and photograph, each item listed will have a starting price, which will also be the reserve, or minimum price at which the item can be sold. This price is to be set by the seller, who will additionally provide an estimation of the item, which will be be used as a market value indication for potential customers. Those who wish to make their merchandise more visible to other users may choose to have their item listed in a "featured items" section of the site, or add bold-faced type to the item title. In order to help facilitate each transaction, sellers will be asked to indicate the country in which the item is located, and a preferred method of shipment, along with any limitations that may apply. Sellers will also be required to specify the method (or methods) of payment that they will accept from a buyer. Once the images and descriptions have been uploaded and the seller has selected the appropriate options, the information will be sent to Antiquorum. Our experts will then conduct a brief screening of the merchandise intended for sale, before proceeding to list the items for sale directly on the site. Since the sales are internet-generated, sellers will be delighted to know that from this point on they may simply observe the progress of each auction with no further participation required until their conclusion.

Of course, if potential customers have questions about a particular item, you will be notified and expected to respond in a timely fashion. A small commission will be charged to sellers based on the final selling price of each item. As a buyer Special features, such as an extensive, easy-to-use search engine and e-mail notifications, help to facilitate the bringing together of buyers and sellers. Visitors to Customer-to-Customer may search for an item by word or by price. A directory is also available in which a search may be conducted for a particular brand or type of watch. Of course one cannot be expected to monitor the progress of each auction at all times and to that end, the site has been designed with a system of e-mail notifications to inform users of the progress of a particular auction. Users have the option of maintaining a homepage, where they may set "alarms" that will notify them when, for example, a certain brand of watch or keyword appears on the site. All visitors to the site may browse or follow the progress of items being offered for sale. However, only users who have completed an online registration form and had their credit information approved, will be assigned a paddle and pin number and be able to place bids on an item for sale in one of

the internet-generated auctions. It is important to note that items sold on the Customer-to-Customer site are guaranteed for authenticity and provenance ONLY by the seller. In order to promote a friendly, secure marketplace and limit the potential for "misrepresentation", the Customer-to-Customer site employs a rating system, which allows users to evaluate each other after each sales transaction. The Customer-to-Customer site compiles and makes this information available to our users, within an “Open Forum” they may then decide, based on a buyer or seller’s history, whether they wish to do business with that person. Both buyers and sellers also have the option of leaving, as well as responding to, comments regarding why a certain rating was given. Shortly after the launch, it will also be possible to bid during the Customer-to-Customer sales via Antiquorum’s WABS. Collectors, dealers, watchmakers, and horological manufacturers worldwide will certainly be delighted with the extensive variety of items available for sale and to trade on the Customer-to-Customer site.
