Five chapters detail the geographical, technical and social environment of
the Tissot firm, founded in Le Locle in 1853. Detailed information drawn from
company archives illustrate its history and activity, from its beginnings
as a “comptoir d'horlogerie”, its development as a factory in
1918, a holding company in 1930 (by way of its association with Omega in the
Société Suisse pour l'Industrie Horlogère - SSIH) and
