Exceptional Collection of Rare Timepieces Offered in Antiquorum’s HK June Auction

Antiquorum Auctioneers, the world’s premier watch auctioneer, is pleased to present its auction of “Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces” to be held on Saturday, June 27th and Sunday, June 28that Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong. Collectors can look forward to bidding on 732 exceptional timepieces, including several outstanding examples from Patek Philippe, premier grand complication wristwatches from various prestigious watch brands, exquisite diamond wristwatches, and a collection of fine and magnificent enamel pocket watches. Prior to the auction, previews will be held in major cities around the world including Singapore, Bangkok, Tokyo, Taipei and Hong Kong.

Amongst the numerous extraordinary wristwatches, the Patek Philippe Ref. 5033P Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar Platinum & Diamond wristwatch with black dial is undoubtedly the top highlight of the sale. Produced circa 2011, it is an extremely important, minute repeating platinum wristwatch with a beautiful tonneau shaped case set with 98 baguette diamonds further enhancing the desirability of this exceptionally rare and highly sought-after timepiece.

Also for the Patek Philippe collector is the Patek Philippe Ref. 2499 Third Series 18K Yellow Gold Chronograph. Made in 1969, it is a very rare 18K yellow gold wristwatch with round button chronograph, 30-minute register, perpetual calendar, moon phases. Ref. 2499 is regarded as one of the most iconic references ever produced by Patek Philippe, and has become the most collectible reference among all grand complication wristwatches manufactured by the watch company over the past several decades.

Another highly collectible Patek Philippe presented in the June sale is the Patek Philippe Ref. 2497 First Series in 18K Yellow Gold. Made in 1953, it is a very fine wristwatch with perpetual calendar and moon phases. Collectors will be interested to note that Patek Philippe launched the reference 2497 and its water-resistant counterpart reference 2438/1 in 1951 and according to literature, a combined total of only 179 examples of these two models were produced, the majority cased either in yellow or pink gold.

Antiquorum experts are also proud to offer the very first Patek Philippe Ref. 3970J wristwatch ever produced NUMBER 000. Made in 1986, it is yellow gold wristwatch with round button chronograph, register, perpetual calendar and moon phases. This represents an exceptional opportunity for the serious Patek Philippe collector to acquire an extraordinarily rare timepiece that is often reserved for the Patek Philippe Museum or for the Stern family themselves.

Also from Patek Philippe is the Patek Philippe Ref. 5711 Jumbo “Nautilus” Ruby Platinum wristwatch. Made in 2014, it is an extremely beautiful platinum wristwatch with date, unique ruby-set bezel, ruby-set dial and a platinum integrated Patek Philippe link bracelet with double deployant clasp. According to our research, it appears that there were only 5 examples of this platinum Ref. 5711P/112 Nautilus produced with the baguette rubies lavishly adorned on both bezel and indexes and a special red second hand.

Rolex enthusiasts will want to bid on the Rolex Ref. 6241 14K Gold Daytona "Paul Newman”. Made in 1969, this iconic and ever-popular wristwatch features a round button chronograph, registers, tachometer and anti-reflect black bezel.

Another outstanding highlight of the sale is the Girard Perregaux Ref. 99740 “Opera Two” Minute Repeater Perpetual Calendar Platinum wristwatch. Made circa 2003, the present example is an extremely fine minute-repeating platinum wristwatch with visible one-minute tourbillon regulator, perpetual calendar with leap year indication.

For A. Lange & Söhne collectors, Antiquorum is delighted to offer the A. Lange & Söhne Ref. 140.035, “Zeitwerk”Platinum wristwatch. Made in a limited series of 100 pieces in 2010, it is a very rare and sought after platinum wristwatch with hour and minute indicator and power reserve indicator. According to the manufacturer, the “Luminous” is the world’s first mechanical watch with a jumping hour numerals display that can also be read in the dark.

Made in a limited edition of 20 examples in 2009, it is a very rare and futuristic platinum black PE-CVD and titanium Chronometer wristwatch with digital time indicated by a patented revolving satellite complication with telescopic minute and hour orbiting satellites, moon phases and day & night indication.
