Antiquorum Offers Rare Patek Philippe Ref. 3939 and Ref. 5971 in March Hong Kong Auction

Hong Kong, March 6th, 2017 – Antiquorum Auctioneers, the world’s premier auctioneers of modern and vintage timepieces, is pleased to present its spring auction of “Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces” to be held on Saturday, March 18th at The Island Shangri-La Hong Kong. Collectors can look forward to bidding on 226 outstanding modern and vintage timepieces. Previews will be held in Antiquorum’s Hong Kong Showroom from March 15th -17th.

The highlight of the sale is the Patek Philippe Ref. 3939 Tourbillon Minute Repeater with enamel dial in Pink Gold. This is an exceptional minute repeating, 18K pink gold wristwatch with one-minute tourbillon regulator and 18K pink gold Patek Philippe buckle. Sold on August 2004. It is accompanied by a fitted box, additional case back, COSC certificate and Certificate of Origin within a leather folio. Lot 226

Another noteworthy timepiece is the “Chinoiserie” style clock “Hivan Tsang” made with Vacheron Constantin for Lacloche Frères in 1925. This unique clock’s exterior is made of a stepped case in onyx, decorated with coral and accented with diamonds in platinum. The top of the case holds a 3-dimensional carving in coral of the Chinese Buddha, Hivan Tsang, with two monkeys. The dial depicts a lotus flower motif entirely inlaid with mother-of-pearl and abalone shell. It is further accompanied by 2005 Spring VOX magazine. Lot 173

Patek Philippe enthusiasts will be eager to acquire the Patek Philiippe Ref. 5971P Chronograph Perpetual Calendar Baguette Diamond Bezel in Platinum. Sold in November 2008. This is very fine and rare, platinum and baguette diamond-set bezel wristwatch with square button chronograph, register, perpetual calendar, moon phases, 24 hour indication, tachometer and a platinum Patek Philippe buckle set with 6 calibrated diamonds. For the Rolex collector, there is a Rolex Ref. 6238 Pre-Daytona Fuerza Aerea Del Peru in Steel, made circa 1965. This example features the classic caseback engraving as well as the three digit serial number inside the caseback. In 2013, the watch was sent for a complete overhaul at Rolex Geneva. Made in a limited edition of 50 sets in 2010, this is a very rare and unusual set of five self-winding 18K pink gold wristwatches,“Pano Matic Tourbillon, Chrono, Reserve, Lunar and Venue”. Accompanied by a guarantee, instruction booklet and a magnificent black lacquer and burlwood free standing watch cabinet. The upper section consists of five electric automatic watch winders, 15 cm. flat screen and a DVD player; the middle section is a humidor for cigars with hygrometer; and the bottom section with twin doors, opens to reveal a bar with glass shelf. Made in a limited edition of 100 pieces to celebrate the re-opening of the Patek Philippe boutique in Geneva in 2006. Like its precursor, the Ref. 5105 is outfitted with a caliber 9-90 movement dating back to 1959; a batch of new-old-stock 9-90 calibers was discovered in an old wooden chest in 1996.
