Unique Timepieces from Patek Philippe and Vacheron Constantin Highlight Antiquorum’s December Sale

New York, November 13, 2012 - Antiquorum Auctioneers, the world's premier auctioneers of modern and vintage timepieces, is looking forward to its December 13th auction of "Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces" at their US headquarters on Madison Avenue in New York City. There will be many exceptional horological highlights including a Patek Philippe Ref. 5016 with unique red and black dial as well as a magnificent Vacheron Constantin pocket watch with enamel dial of Lake Geneva. Previews will be held in Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and New York.

The highlight of the sale is the Patek Philippe Ref. 5016 with unique red and black dial. Made in 1999, this is an extremely fine, unique and important, astronomic, minute-repeating, platinum wristwatch with one-minute tourbillon regulator, retrograde perpetual calendar and moon phases. It is accompanied by the Extract of the Archives, Patek Philippe winding box, setting pin and a leather folder with booklets.

The Vacheron Constantin enthusiast will be eager to acquire the Lake Geneva Vacheron Constantin unique 18K yellow gold and painted on enamel keyless dress watch offered in the sale. Made in 1945, this piece is an extraordinary example of a Vacheron & Constantin dress watch with a polychrome painted on enamel scene by Helen May Mercier depicting Lake Geneva. Mercier studied under Charles Poluzzi and examples of her work rarely appear at auction. This unique watch is being sold by the family of the original owner and has been kept in immaculate condition since its production over 60 years ago.

Another outstanding complicated Patek Philippe offered is the Patek Philippe Ref. 5270 Perpetual Chronograph in white gold, produced in 2012. This fine and rare example is a large, water-resistant 18K white gold wristwatch with perpetual calendar, moon phases, square-button chronograph and register. It is accompanied by the original wooden box, Certificate of Origin, instructions, booklets, setting pin and a solid 18K white gold case back.

For the vintage Patek Philippe collector, Antiquorum experts are proud to present a Patek Philippe Ref. 1463 Chronograph in yellow gold, made in 1948. This rare, water-resistant 18K yellow gold wristwatch features a round button chronograph, register, tachometer and is accompanied by the Extract from the Archives.

From a private collection, Antiquorum is pleased to present a Patek Philippe Ref. 1526. Produced in 1948, this is a fine and rare 18K yellow gold watch with perpetual calendar and moon phases accompanied by the Extract from the Archives. This reference was produced in only 210 examples from 1941- 1952 with the caliber “12 -120QP, the majority of the examples were made in yellow gold.

Rolex Ref. 6036 Jean-Claude Killey Made in 1951, this is a water-resistant, stainless steel watch with round-button chronograph, registers, triple date and a stainless steel riveted Oyster bracelet. It comes with a fitted box and guarantee (now void).

The Audemars Piguet aficionado will want to bid on the Audemars Piguet Jules Audemars Tourbillon & 10 Minute Repeater in pink gold, no. 07/10. Made in a limited edition in 2006, this is an extremely fine and rare, minute-repeating, 18K pink gold wristwatch with visible one-minute regulator. This series repeats on the hours, every ten minutes and then the minutes. It is accompanied by the original wooden box, original certificate, Certificate of Authenticity and instruction manual.

F.P. Journe is also well represented in the auction with the F.P. Journe Octa Calendar Bracelet No. 88 in platinum. Made circa 2003 with a special order fitted custom platinum bracelet, this rare self-winding platinum calendar chronometer wristwatch with retrograde date large day of the week and month indication is accompanied by the original fitted box, certificate, loupe, strap, tool and service papers.
